Baby Development 9 months

Your 9 month old baby

Baby Development 9 months:
your baby will probably be able to…

Physical Development

  • Roll from front to back
  • Crawl or trying to crawl
  • Put his feet in his mouth
  • Be alert
  • Pick up things with his thumb
    and finger
  • Move toys from hand to hand
  • With rolling and crawling they can get to people and objects

Cognitive Development

  • Be aware that an object exists even when it goes out of sight
  • Enjoy watching toys move

Language and Communication

  • Understand simple words
  • Imitate your sounds
  • Babbling

Emotional and Social Development

  • Show a fear of strangers as they feel more attached to the familiar people around them
  • Start to express different moods

Developmental Leaps

Each leap brings changes in behaviour, awareness, mood and sleep and your baby may seem unsettled and clingy

33-38 weeks – he could start to show an interest in movement and exploring his environment. He may also be able to start playing simple games
and an awareness of emotions is starting to develop.
