Failure to progress: the movie

This short film clip is a great illustration of how being watched and interrupted can affect how relaxed and safe women feel in labour, which can then affect their progress in labour.

Women need to feel comfortable and relaxed, to do what they need to do without pressure, disturbance, too much chat or being watched by too many people – in the same way as going to the loo.

Privacy around birth needs be respected as much as the privacy around going to the toilet – it’s a small thing to change but it makes a massive difference.
