Out & About: National Glass Centre, Sunderland

We made our first visit to the National Glass Centre in Sunderland at the beginning of the summer holidays and we attended a ‘hot fish’ workshop over the weekend.

The Centre is brilliant – from learning more about the history of glass-making to experiencing the heat of the 1000-degree furnace in the studio while watching the glassmakers expertly create vases and glasses – it is fascinating to watch them work.

With free parking, a great location of the River Wear, a glass roof which you can walk on, a lovely cafe and a giftshop full of unique presents, it’s well worth a visit…
