Out & about with your toddler

I am just finishing off the Birth & Baby Network toddler pages. Today I have been working on where to go with your growing baby and toddler.

Thanks to everyone who shared with me where you go with your baby and/or toddler. It got me thinking about where I took my girls when they were little because we were never in.

Some big favourites for us when the girls were little were:

Seven Stories – many a rainy wintery day was spent here either just us or with friends listening to stories, making, sticking, dressing up, playing and exploring.

Whitehouse Farm – it has animals, soft play and tractors, so what’s not to love?

and

The Discovery Museum and The Hancock (now The Great North Museum)

We loved a range of parks – Ridley Park and South Beach in Blyth, Northumberland Park in North Shields, South Marine Park in South Shields, Saltwell Park in Gateshead

and the beach was a big hit too – from Longsands, Cullercoats and South Shields to Seaton Sluice and Blyth.

Whether it was brilliant sunshine or a splodge through puddles it was always worth getting the kids out, even if it was just for an hour or so. I remember very fondly the days of packing up the car with suitable clothes for all weather – we had everything from sun hats, suncream, buckets and spades to wellies and waterproof suits so we were ready for a quick trip or a day out with friends.
