You can feel a bit low and teary  when you have a baby and that can be due to exhaustion, lack of confidence and adjusting to life as a parent and, chances are, there will be plenty of happy times as well. If you feel like you are very low and not enjoying anything, have a chat with your health visitor or your GP. It can also be worth seeking out support from other mothers and talking through how you feel, being able to share this can be a great first step.

You won’t necessarily need medication, talking about it and making sense of your new role can be enough for some women to feel supported and less alone…
