“Just been to my first Aquanatal Class with Julie – absolutely brilliant”
Puddle Ducks runs aquanatal sessions in Newcastle, Gateshead, Whitley Bay and North Shields for small groups of pregnant women in a warm, soothing swimming pool on Sunday afternoons. These sessions combine relaxation with cardiovascular exercise – a great way to feel healthy, fit and in great shape during pregnancy.
Classes take place in soothing, warm pools, providing one of the safest ways to exercise in pregnancy. As you are exercising in water, you are less likely to suffer any aches or injuries and you may feel lighter with a greater sense of movement. You can also use the exercise techniques to get gently back into shape after you have had your baby!
Puddle Ducks teachers pass antenatal swimming training that is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives Trust, our own extensive aquanatal training and STA Aquacise/Aquanatal and Antenatal Swimming.

Puddle Ducks Newcastle is run by Carolyn Sharpe
Swimming has always been a big part of my life and even more so when I started taking my son, William, to baby swimming classes at just seven weeks old. Since then, I have watched in wonder as my precious little boy has become so confident in the water. I almost burst with pride when he held onto the poolside unaided and pulled himself out of the pool for the first time in his Puddle Ducks class at just seven months old.
Having been a competitive swimmer and lifeguard myself, I cannot stress enough the importance of water safety and confidence from an early age. I am absolutely delighted to be be a part of the Puddle Ducks programme and to be bringing it to babies and pre-school children in the North East.
