the cost of birth

I saw this picture on Twitter last night and it made me so grateful for the NHS – our wonderful, there when we need it, treat everyone NHS. I don’t want our health service to go this way, where only those with the best insurance get treated and those without go without.

I have given birth three times and one baby needed urgent medical attention as soon as he was born – I dread to think what the financial cost of that would have been – what if a parent in America doesn’t have the right cover, does that mean they go without care? Does that mean their baby is left to die? It’s sobering.

Personally I think we need to look after and protect our NHS – it needs more care and investment but it has to be worth it because the alternative is bleak.
