Birth Skills

The Birth & Baby Network

As an experienced antenatal teacher, I love this book. I constantly talk about the benefits of developing and using movement, positions and breathing in pregnancy and in labour.

This book is about learning skills to have greater control during labour, so you know different ways to be comfortable, to stay calm and to allow your labour to flow.

It is full of information about:

Movement

Breathing

Visualisation

Stress

Pushing

Practical preparation and skills for birth

Physiology of Birth

It’s about knowledge and there’s a lot of information in the book, which could seem overwhelming and like it is a lot to remember but read through it and take from it what appeals to you.

Don’t forget to also find some good antenatal classes and/or a doula to talk through and practise your birth skills.
